Telephone calls can be made from hotel rooms or coin operated street placed public phones as well as the public phones which now accept the Iranian public phone cards. For making long distance or international calls from public phones, the operator’s assistance must be sought.

The Iran Post Company has approximately 209 centralized post offices which supervise the more than 1100 rural and 275 urban post offices. The post company provides many international postal services.
Telegraphs and fax services are also offered in several offices throughout the country.

Those planning to travel to Iran and looking for information can now find it easily. Each city that is considered sizable has a Tourist Information Office for the city sites, amenities and accommodations, as well as for Iran in general. Local maps and hotel lists along with other items of importance can be obtained from the Tourist Information Office.

The personnel in these offices are trained to speak English and can be very helpful for foreign tourists. They will only recommend restaurants and specific hotel accommodations if requested, but can give information when asked about the most popular staying places and eateries.

The Tourist Information Offices for each sizable town are typically located in or very near the airports and the main railway stations for each town. There is also a Central Tourist Office that is located in Tehran.
